The Foundation is pleased to announce that we received a donation of a 1966 Replica Shelby Cobra and will be auctioning it off at this year’s Blue Ribbon Bash on August 22, 2019.
The Story of the Cobra
Mr. David Gieringer (1952-2010), became associated with the Foundation and its services in 2003 after his prostate cancer diagnosis. As David battled this disease, he began the assembly of this 1966 Replica Shelby Cobra. According to his widow Beth, David insisted on using only the best-certified parts in the construction of the car. Dedicating countless hours and energy into this project, this car was David’s pride and joy. In this labor of love, David invested more than $70,000 in the building of this beautiful vehicle.
In November of 2018, after discussing the matter with her current husband Bob Baine and her children, Beth decided that she wanted to honor her late husband by donating the car he had put so much of himself into to the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation. It is Beth and her family’s hope that the car can go to someone who will love it as much as David did and at the same time provide money so that the Foundation can help other men and their families who may be struggling with a potential prostate cancer diagnosis.
