What is Patient Navigation?
"It's so exciting to think I may have helped someone!" William T., Survivor
Patient Navigation is a support service in which a trained 'navigator' guides you through the cancer care system. There are often barriers within the confusing healthcare system that can cause delays and gaps in service. Our Patient Navigator knows the system and the community and makes sure you get the resources and support you need to make decisions based on your situation and diagnosis.
In addition, the APCF’s Peer Network meets monthly in four locations across the state: Ft. Smith, Jonesboro, Fayetteville and Little Rock. The Peer Network is a safe and confidential environment where you can talk freely about the different experiences you have as you progress through the states of survivorship.
The Foundation also provides one-on-one care with its Survivor-Mentor program. Survivor-Mentors are men and women who are post-treatment and are specially trained by the APCF to answer questions and offer guidance for newly diagnosed men and loved ones. Survivor-Mentors are available 7 days a week.
To talk with a Survivor-Mentor, contact the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation office at 501-748-1249 or 800-338-1383.
